Parasites, Collaboration Between Hamidrasha and Petach Tikvah Museum of Art - June 2025
As part of a collaborative project between “Hamidrasha”and the Petach Tikva Museum of art, the students of “Hamidrasha” became parasites to the existing exhibition, “If I Was Body.” The students were tasked with creating their own site-specific artworks which would engage with the theme of the exhibition and the environment of the museum. For my artwork in this exhibition, “Bruise,” I decided to engage with the doors to the museum’s archive. These doors represent a boundary between the museum’s external body (the galleries) and internal body (the archives). Although the galleries are accessible to all who enter the museum, viewers have no way of knowing what lies beyond the doors of the archive. This relationship also exists in my own body. I have an autoimmune disease, which manifests itself in bruises that appear on my body. The bruise is an external symptom of what is happening inside my body, something that I cannot fully understand, as much as I wish to. To answer this need, I chose to create a painting of a bruise that once appeared on my skin, which I placed on top of the left door of the archive. To the right, I created a painting in which I imagined what goes on beneath the skin, placing this behind the glass of the archive’s doors.
